HydroTeam Logo     IVS 3D Joins HydroTeam Alliance

Four leading hydrographic software companies have launched the global HydroTeam alliance. ATLIS, HSA, IVS 3D and SevenCs formed the alliance to be dedicated to customer benefits.

The international hydrographic market customers will enjoy a new standard for products and service with the introduction of HydroTeam, the global hydrographic alliance partnering ATLIS, L-3 HSA, IVS 3D and SevenCs.

HydroTeam customers will be able to choose from a set of tools that together support the complete hydrographic process from survey to chart - including an enterprise server architecture that enables the tools to work together in an integrated and user-friendly environment. The existing and future customers of the alliance will also experience a consistent level of performance, quality and detailed attention to customer service.

In a joint statement, the CEOs from the four companies stated, "The introduction of HydroTeam will alter the landscape for the hydrographic industry. All the alliance members provide world leading products and services in each of their areas, and this innovative global alliance now offers clients a best of breed solution. The HydroTeam alliance has been created entirely around our customers, and we are dedicated to providing the tools and services that best meet their needs. We are already working to expand our current offerings to provide greater functionality, increased service and improved benefits."

HydroTeam's unveiling was announced at a launch event at the ENC Tools User Conference hosted by SevenCs in Hamburg, Germany on November 13, 2008. Executives from the four founding companies signed the HydroTeam Charter in the presence of the Conference's audience. HydroTeam's first chairman will be George Spoelstra from ATLIS. The chair will be rotated amongst the members on a yearly basis.

Integrated solutions, better service

Through the formation of one of the world's most extensive hydrographic alliances, HydroTeam customers around the world will have more options to organize their production process. The alliance members have extensive skills and experience in virtually all aspects of hydrographic chart production, maintenance and data collection, dating back to 1991. Hydrographic offices, port authorities, inland waterway authorities, hydrographic survey providers etc. will have access to an integrated production system comprised of proven tools available from the HydroTeam members:

  • Fledermaus from IVS 3D will provide interactive 3D data validation and visualization.
  • SENS from ATLIS for bathymetric and nautical object data management and distribution.
  • SCIPS from SevenCs offering a full range of integrated ENC production and management products.
  • ENC Cartographer and ENC Analyser from L-3 HSA providing ENC validation and paper chart production.

Wherever they are in the world, HydroTeam customers will never be more than a few steps away from qualified HydroTeam sales and support staff. HydroTeam members will represent each other in their respective markets and with main offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, UK and USA, and with many resellers, world coverage is ensured.

HydroTeam will offer its first round of initiatives beginning immediately, including the release of common interfaces between the available products. Additional HydroTeam benefits will be phased in during 2009. HydroTeam will give a joint presentation at the industry exhibition to be held alongside the 4th Extraordinary International Hydrographic Conference (EIHC4) in Monaco from 2 - 4 June 2009.

The HydroTeam logo incorporates the name of the alliance and a design that denotes quality in the 5 steps of the hydrographic production process (acquisition, validation, management, production and distribution).

Fledermaus European Regional Client Support Continues Growth

IVS 3D has partnered with Escort Ltd. to provide sales support to Fledermaus clients located in the Poland and southern Baltic region.

Escort Ltd. specializes in the supply, service and integration of marine electronics equipment for the Polish Navy, shipyards, ports, ship owners, scientific institutions, and fishermen. Founded in 1990, they currently employ 25 highly skilled and experienced marine electronic technicians.

Zenon Markowski, representative for Escort, Ltd, said of the recent partnership with IVS 3D, "We expect that our cooperation with IVS 3D will expedite the development of hydrographic mapping in Poland. Currently, there is an increasing number of Polish institutions that are responsible for the preparation and actualization of bathymetric maps for both for the Polish zone of the Baltic Sea as well as the inland waters. As a result, they are using modern hydrographic multibeam echo sounders. With the tools available in the Fledermaus suite, these institutions are able to integrate the Fledermaus software suite across many phases of a project from the planning, processing and QC, through to analysis and production of images, plots and animations. Because of the ease with which massive amounts of data are handled with Fledermaus, they are able to realize the full utilization that these sonar devices have to offer."

"Escort Ltd. years of experience with hydrographic sonar equipment is a natural transition to the capabilities of the Fledermaus suite to handle the massive amounts of data that the marine equipment generates." said Bill McKernan, VP of Sales and Marketing for IVS 3D. "We have complete confidence with Escort Ltd. to be able to help Fledermaus users realize the full potential of Fledermaus' 3D interactive tools."

Upcoming Events in the EMEA Region

OmanHydro Symposium - 15 - 18 March 2009 (Muscat, Oman)

The OmanHydro Symposium aims to raise awareness of the importance of hydrography and the role that it plays, together with the benefits it provides, for the management and development of marine and coastal resources.

Because of the extensive development of the coastal zone that is being planned and undertaken within Oman and the surrounding region, it is considered that this is an ideal moment to hold such a symposium.

The symposium will be accompanied by a commercial exhibition.

Ocean Business -  31 March -  2 April 2009 (Southampton, UK)

Ocean Business is a unique event that combines the traditional static exhibition stand with the opportunity for delegates to attend over 150+ hours of training and demonstration workshops providing first hand knowledge of the equipment and systems on the market.

Along with a networking aspect to this event, Ocean Business provides the opportunity for senior buyers and decision makers to meet together with the actual users who are out in the field operating various equipment and services.

FEMME -  21-24 April 2009 (Lisbon, Portugal)

FEMME is Kongsberg Maritime's forum for all users of their multibeam echo sounder systems. The objective of the conference is to not only improve the skills of the users, but also the performance of the Kongsberg Multibeam Systems. This is achieved through the exchanging of ideas and experiences among the users and the development and hydrographic teams at Kongsberg Maritime.

GeoHab -  5-7 May 2009 (Trondheim, Norway)

This conference brings together approximately 100 scientists from the fields of geology, biology, acoustics, statistics and management, providing a truly multidisciplinary and exciting forum for exchange of knowledge and ideas. GeoHab provides an informal, though global, meeting place for scientists working on underpinning sustainable ocean management.

Themes for the 2009 conference will include, but are not limited to:

  • Linking geology and biology - new developments in the use of proxies for ecosystem characterization
  • Acoustic and statistical methods for substrate and biota classification and modeling
  • Arctic habitats and climate change

IHO -  2-4 June 2009 (Monaco)

The vision of the IHO is to be the authoritative worldwide hydrographic body which actively engages all coastal and interested States to advance maritime safety and efficiency and which supports the protection and sustainable use of the marine environment. Its mission is to create a global environment in which States provide adequate and timely hydrographic data, products and services and ensure their widest possible use.
